Lodha Group initiates free food centers for migrant workers and the needy people in Mumbai

March 31, 2020 | By

In these unexpected times where the country is facing simultaneous health and economic challenges,
the less privileged, the migrant workers and the homeless people are the most affected. In a bid to
help the needy to cope up with the nationwide lockdown, Lodha Group has initiated free food centers
for providing lunch and dinner facilities across the city of Mumbai.

These food centers are functional at Lodha World School, Kalyan Shil Road, Palava, Lodha World
School, Majiwada- Thane; Sharda Mandir School, Gamdevi from 12PM -3 PM and 7PM – 9:30 PM.

The group is also making food available at Lodha Dham, Vasai on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway
from 11 AM – 6 PM
to the needy and the commuters. In an active effort to reach out to the people
who are unable to travel to these centers, Lodha volunteers are also reaching out to people
sheltered under bridges and giving out packed food to the poor and the underprivileged.

While they are providing food to the needy, Lodha Group is also ensuring that their volunteers are
focusing on sanitation, hygiene and social distancing directives as prescribed by the government.

Earlier the group had also announced full waiver for its retail partners as COVID-19 crisis deepened
in India. Retail partners, who have renting spaces in Lodha’s retail properties are exempted from
paying the rent since March 15, until the government permits reopening of retail operations.
Maintenance charges are reduced as per the actual expenses during this period.

Additionally, Lodha group also declared special initiatives for its contract workers and employees to
help them combat the implications of lockdown. Contract workers and daily wage earners are the
most affected during these times with no source of livelihood or access to food and basic amenities.
Lodha Group took up this responsibility and ensured sufficient food supply arrangements are in
place for tens of thousands of workers who are currently staying at their sites. Further, they also
provided advance salaries for the month of March 2020 to all their employees from lower to mid
management level, so that they can take good care of their daily needs and families in such scenario.

“At this time of national need, it is our duty to do everything in our capacity to support and help our
fellow countrymen. These initiatives will only make the society stronger and help us tide over this
situation. We believe this is the time for everyone to come together act responsibly for the larger
good of our society” said a company spokesperson.
