P Landscape (PLA) is a landscape architecture and design studio based in Bangkok, Thailand. PLA has done the entire landscape architecture in Lodha Park. We invited them to share their experience working on this project.
We believe that landscape architecture is an art and science that surpasses beyond physical and functional aspects of a site. It integrates creativity, culture, and local heritage while also enhancing the site’s existing environment and ecology. Central to our approach is a belief in the principles of life and nature: purpose in existence, order and geometry, and the importance of culture and traditions.
At Lodha Park, we want to create a bridge between nature and people through dynamic green urban park spaces, which we will bring about through the integration of refined design that responds to different users’ function while enhancing the surrounding environment to create a new living space and improve the resident’s quality of life.
Lodha Park marks our first exciting collaboration with the Lodha Group. Since 2012 we have continuously worked towards designs that focused on bringing back the ‘green’ to Mumbai, through all aspects from the horizontal to the vertical; from ground to podium.
From the famous Central Park in New York, Hyde Park in London to small famous stone gardens like the Ryoan-ji in Kyoto, it demonstrate the desire of city dwellers living in urban environments to be live closer to nature.
For Lodha Park, we would like to create a place that allows us to restore and relax; a haven away from the hectic urban environment. The main green urban park is created on top of the podium where people who live and work here can enjoy themselves while the green around the property can provide a sense of relief away from the busy street of Mumbai.
Creating a new bench mark of the development that focuses on increasing green space and improving the quality of life at Lodha Park.
Our vision for Lodha Park is a space where the new urban park is created not only to respond and provide for the various functions and requirements of the new urban lifestyle as recreational spaces, but also immersing the residents with large green areas. As the project is being built, we are delighted to see that Lodha Park is going to be one of the most desirable developments in Mumbai and will be another part of the green spaces in the City.
The unique landscape for Lodha Park is the integration of green spaces in every area of the development. Yet, each area has its own character, from the playground surrounded by the trees that mimic the forest, the tea pavilion by the orchard to the quiet and contemplation area for the Ganesha Shrine in the Fragrant Forest. The idea also reflects on the building’s façade, where the green plays an important role by merging and softening the hardness of the architecture. This is where the landscape and architecture are seamlessly integrated.
